Sønderjyske Poststempler Indtil 1920, 2nd edition, 5¾ by 8¼ inches, perfect bound, 144 pages, DAKA Forlag, Tervuren, Belgium, 1999, ISBN 87-90414-27-6. Available for $29.50 postpaid in the U.S. from Lizabeth Stamp Company, Box 321, Bloomsburg PA 17815.
The former GF and DAKA catalogs are now published by Erik Paaskesen in Belgium. This thorough catalog of the cancellations used in North Schleswig up until 1920 illustrates most of them. The introductory section includes postal rates and a discussion of the various types of cancels used. The actual cancels begin with No. 01 Aabenraa through No. 206 for Øster Terp. Then follow some railway cancels, seapost and transit markings.
This is a priced catalog in Danish kroner. In most cases the period of use is listed for each cancel and, where known, the earliest and latest recorded uses. Both the Danish and German place names are given. An extensive bibliography indicates that a lot of research has gone into the preparation of the catalog. The illustrations are quite good and appear to be actual cancellations. Definitely recommended for collectors of this material.
